Voki

3rd period

8/19/12

The Voki creator is pretty easy to work, but in case you don’t know how to make one I’m going to show you how. First off you have to name it. I named mine Brian after… well me. Then you can customize your character. I started mine with the face because I think that’s what whoever is watching will be focusing on the most. After that I chose a regular t-shirt but you don’t have to.

There are options on each of these options. One of them is the color which let you change the color of whatever you are making. The other option is tweak. In this option you can make whatever you are making however you want to make it. This is how, it allows you to fix the spacing on the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.

After you’ve done all this you can do the finishing touches. You can give it a voice and stuff like that. You can also do the type to voice option. I wrote about me and who I was, but you can write whatever you want. Now you have a Voki! Hope you found this helpful.

Color wheel

3rd period

8/19/15

The main use for a color wheel is to separate the cool colors from the warm colors. Another use is to have all the main colors and the mixed colors between them. The main colors are red, blue, and yellow. The secondary colors are green, orange, and violet. The mixed colors that I was talking about were red-violet, yellow-green, red-orange, yellow-orange, blue-green, and blue violet. Warm and cold colors are fairly simple, the warm is red, orange and yellow. The cool colors are green, blue, and purple.

Usually the color wheel is in order. On one side, there is the cool side and the warm side. And in between the regular colors there are the mixed. It has to be in order so if its red it has to be red-yellow, red-orange, or red-violet. That is the correct way to start making a color wheel, to know the order. One famous artist that uses a color wheel is Vincent Van Gogh.  You can see the use of the cool and warm side of the color wheel in his famous painting “Starry Night”

After you get the order you want to make sure that the page is all color. Why I say that is because you want to cover all white so that way it is more precise with the edges of the colors. After that you can label the colors. When you do so make sure that any mixed colors have the name with the main color first. And that was my take on the uses and colors of the color wheel

David Hockney narrative

3rd period

There I was in an abandoned building, taking pictures on a dare from my friend. When I entered I felt a cold breeze that sent shivers down my spine. “Weird” I said, stopping in my tracks. I explored all the building trying to find the right picture. I finally stopped and said “you know what I’ll just take a picture from the lobby stairs.

I sat down and put my legs under the railing after I set up the tri-pod at the door way. I could have sworn that there was footsteps before I felt another chill go down my spine. The picture flashed and I got up and went downstairs to get my tri-pod. I looked at the picture and I couldn’t believe my eyes. There was a person who looked like they were a cop but I couldn’t be sure.

I ran to my bike, hurried and took off the lock, and pedaled as fast as I could back to my friend’s house. I got through the front door and my friend said “what’s the matter, you look like you saw a ghost.” I think I did.” I said. I showed him the picture and he just laughed. He said that that was a cop that went there to check if anyone’s there and that he told the cop to scare me because I was going to go there.

"You jerk!" I exclaimed. He couldn't stop laughing at the prank he just pulled on me. "You got to admit, it was pretty funny," He said with a chuckle. "I don't think so," I stated. "Obviously not to you but to everyone else it was," he says, before busting out laughing again. Then i looked at the picture again and saw something that caught my eye.

Tagxedo

The Tagxedo is easy to create. All you have to do is get a picture that you like, upload it and then you can start. After the picture is uploaded the websites test words will be “Mother Earth” but you can change it by clicking the button that says “load”.  After it loads you can type in the box that says “enter text” and add however many words you want.  After that you can change the color scheme so the words are different colors.

I chose the words that I did because all 20 of those described me. The word that described me the most was the word gamer. Another that really describes me is neat. I say this because I sometimes like to clean by choice. I also chose logical because I think strategically.

This project described me pretty well because all of those words, well, described me. This project was an expressive portrait because it made the person by the words that described them. I think it is a pretty good representation of who I am. The reason I say this because the words I chose people have said this about me. And that is why I chose and how to create a tagxedo.

Graffiti wall

A graffiti wall is when a person paints on a wall of any kind, usually with spray paint. Unless you are creating one digitally, like I did. But if you are not making it digitally it’s probably for a purpose. Either you want to promote something or you just want to make a picture with a huge canvas. People call graffiti pictures tags usually.

I went to http://postergen.com/graffiti-creator and when it loaded there was a brick wall with the words “your name”. Next to the main picture there is a text box. You can delete the words “your name” and put in whatever you want. I put in my name but you can put in whatever. After that you can change the color of it by scrolling down and choose the color by clicking the color individually. And also you can change the background.

I chose the words I did because they describe me. To specify, the word “organized” describes me because I clean just to clean. The word “happy” describes me because I usually am pretty happy. I chose the word “techy” because I know a lot about computer systems. Software and hardware at the same time. And that is how to make and my graffiti.

Food Face writing

9/15/2015

Arcimboldo was a famous renaissance artist. He painted pictures with objects such as fruits, vegetables, and animals. He used to paint pictures of religious figures but that faded away and he started to paint just something that looked like a human. He chose to do this because around when he started to paint, he was in the right time to do this because it quenched the thirst the people had for creativeness in art. The thought process behind doing something this certain way was again the thirst for creativeness by the people in his time.

I chose the items I did because that is usually the type of food people like these days. I chose sunflower seeds, watermelon, pineapples, skittles, doughnuts, sushi, chicken, banana, grape, bacon, eggplant, and asparagus. I used the watermelon for the head, the doughnut for the iris and the sushi for the pupil, the chicken for the ears, asparagus for the eyebrows, sunflower seeds and skittles for the freckles, grape for the nose, bacon for the mustache, pineapple for the hair, and the eggplant for the neck. I put them all together that way because they all look like what I put them as. The doughnut was blue for the iris and things like that. And that was my food face.

Zentangle descriptive

3rd period

Creating a Zentangle is pretty relaxing to me. Some people think it’s just another art piece, but once you get into it, it turns out to be pretty fun and cool looking. All the supplies we had were shaving cream, paint, a Popsicle stick, and obviously a piece of paper.

You put the shaving cream in the shape of a piece of paper then put a line of different colored paint on each area of the shaving cream. And then you use the Popsicle stick upright to spread the paint in lines across the shaving cream. After that you put the paper on the shaving cream, then wipe off the shaving cream and you have a bunch of colors on your paper.

Then you go to http://tanglepatterns.com/. There are two types of patterns, boarders and fillers. First you find a boarder and put it on the corner. Then you fill in with a border. You keep on doing that until your page is filled. And that is how you create a Zentangle!

T-Shirt Persuasive

I think raising school spirit is worth taking time out of our instructional time. I say this because we get to have a break from all the regular things, but it is not hurting the schools reputation. It's not hurting the school because it is raising the students spirits for the school while also the school is making money out of the project. By making money they can buy better materials for the students to use. It is also good for special anniversaries, or special events like that.

For instance, our school just recently hit our 50th anniversary. To celebrate, students had to come up with a design for the t-shirt to let everyone know about it. That, to me, is worth taking time out of our regular schedules to do. The reason I said the it raises the school money is because the designed T-shirt has to be sold. Also if you're wearing it out in public then other people will know about what your school did or how old it is.

Sure, we could be learning things but this gives us students a break from all the projects and gives us something fun to do. So this topic is very interesting because who wouldn't want to create something to celebrate a school. It would also be cool to see all of your classmates wearing something you made. And that is why I think it is worth it to take time out of our regular assignments and design something for your school.

Social Media writing prompt

My name is Ulysses S. Grant. Although I was born Hiram Ulysses Grant. I was born in April 27, 1882. I was a pretty quiet kid. I was born into a religious family and I was bored by the simple schools. I was born in Point pleasant Ohio. My parents are Hannah and Jesse.

I went into the army in 1844. The army was small when I joined. I started in west point but then they stationed me in Missouri. Then I served in Mexican-American war. My father was a business man, and a self-reliant tanner. My mother and father were both natives in Pennsylvania.

After the assassination of President Lincoln I decided to run for president. I was General of the Army at the time. After my 4th year in office, some republicans tried to challenge me. They called themselves liberal republicans. And that is my story, hope you enjoyed!

MLK writing

January 27,2016

There is a big problem right now about people thinking all cops are racist. Now that’s just not true. Now keep in mind I’m not saying all cops are not racist because there are some bad cops out there, all I’m saying is not all cops are racist and a lot of people think that. If they knew the whole story instead of just what they saw, they would change there thinking. Also there was a pastor that was put in situations with cops and he saw how hard it was to not defend himself the way cops would.

The first thing you can do to raise awareness is when someone says all cops shouldn’t be out here, just say “Think of a world without cops.” There would be complete chaos. There would be so many crimes and no one to stop the criminals. All murderers would not be punished. And that’s only part of what could happen.

The second thing you can do is put up a blue porch light instead of a regular one. This isn’t as direct as the other one but it does raise awareness. This signifies you support cops and you are behind them. This catches cars attention going past and then they can google why you have that. This is easy, you can raise awareness just by flipping a switch.

The third thing you can do is buy merchandise that you can wear. The merchandise say “Blue lives matter.” This is stating you support cops and think they should not get off the streets. Again think about a world without police. These are just some of the things that are my favorite that you can do to raise awareness.

So , in conclusion, there are many things you can do to support police just on a regular basis. There were the conversations you can have, to buying merchandise, to something as simple as switching your porch light. These are things you can do easily. You can also share this information to someone who agrees with you.

Keep calm writing

The keep calm posters were made and made a phenomenon because in a time of war it reminded the people of England to keep calm and carry on. By this, I mean in WWII the English people were freaking out and those posters came out telling people to calm down. These posters were everywhere at the time. In subway stations and on city walls, just everywhere.

Like I said before, the English people were freaking out about this war then the posters came out. It was like a sign telling them that everything was going to be alright. And as it turns out everything did come out in their favor. By that I mean they won the war

It was created not to cause commotion but to stop it. And it is still extremely popular. Sure, people changed it to be funny, but everyone always remembers what the original quote was. And what it was for. To bring peace in a time of war.

It was also a reminder that anything is easier and clearer when you calm down. This is very important because it will settle your nerves and make you think clearer when you remember to breathe. After the war, the original posters were preserved and put up as a reminder. A reminder to breathe and calm down when something is stressing you out.

So the posters were supposed to calm England when WWII was happening, and it achieved that goal. It is preserved and looked at to remind people what to do when stressing. And just to calm the nerves of some people. So the keep calm posters were a part of history that was sometimes made into a joke but it was helping people with stress.

“The Academy”

3rd

04/4/2015

Loud speaker: Its 04:00 hours, time to get up!

*everyone in the bunks moans*

Sasha: Why so early?

Narrator: this is Sasha’s first day at the academy, she isn’t used to the sleep schedule yet.

Kelly: Because they want to pick out the light sleepers from the sleeping like babies.

Sasha: Why would that matter?

Kelly: Because A) were going to get paged in the middle of the night and B) we are working third shift sometimes.

Sasha: I reaaalllyy hope I don’t get paged in the middle of the night. Who am I kidding? of course I’m going to be.

Loud speaker: Everybody outside were going to run our daily mile. IN FORMATION.

*everybody moans again but does it anyway.”

Sasha: Did he say “daily”?

Cate: I believe he did. This sucks.

Sasha: If we want to become officers then we are going to have to do what were told.

*Everybody starts running in formation*

END OF ACT 1

WEEK 2: shooting

Instructor: everybody pick up your weapons. NOW!

*Everybody does what their told snappily.

Instructor: There are 4 main rules of fire arms. 1) Keep your finger off the trigger until your ready to shoot. 2) Don’t point it at anything you’re not willing to destroy. 3) Always make sure if a weapon is loaded or not before doing anything. 4) Make sure what’s behind your target before you shoot.

Tony: seems simple enough.

*Instructor walks over to tony*

Instructor: If it seems simple enough then why are you pointing your gun at your foot with your finger on the TRIGGER….Idiot.

*tony sets it on the table*

Instructor: Did I say set it down?

Tony: N…No sir

 Instructor: PICK IT UP SON!!

*Tony scrambles to pick it up and almost dropped it*

Instructor: DROP AND GIVE ME 20

*Tony drops with the gun*

Instructor: NOT WITH THE GUN YOU IDIOT. THAT’S ANOTHER 20.

*camera slowly backs up overhead with the instructor counting out loud.*

End of act 2.

Week 3-5: Even more running

Sasha narrating over clips of them waking up then running: This went on for 2 weeks. Wake up. Run. Wake up. Run. It wasn’t very hard, it was just tedious, so it was boring. If anyone fell out of formation, the did 20 push-ups. This was what they called “weeks of Hades.” They called it something else but I don’t think I can say that.

*scene slowly fades into a shot from front of Sasha and Kelly talking.*

Sasha: only 3 more days of this.

Kelly: I know but it still seems like eternity.

Sasha: I know, but make sure not to fall out of formation or else you’ll do push-ups and then catch back up. Then it will take longer.

Kelly: Don’t remind me.

*camera stops moving so Sasha and Kelly move ahead.*

Sasha narrating over clips: After that Kelly fell behind 3 times. Me only once. But I saw this one girl named Jasmine fall behind a total of 36 times in the two weeks. I almost tripped over her because she didn’t finish her push-ups by the time I got back around to where she fell behind. I won’t make fun of her too much because these two weeks have been the hardest in my life. I woke up sore I went to sleep sore the last day I could barely run.

End of act 3

Weeks 4-6: hand to hand combat

Instructor: For these two weeks, we will focus on hand to hand combat. This you will use more than anything.

Instructor: Now for the first lesson, throws. Throws will be important when you need to take down a suspect and handcuff them.

*instructor looks at clipboard*

Instructor: uuuuhh lets see… Tony and Mark

Sasha: I’m glad I didn’t get called

Instructor: That’s the first pair.

Sasha: crap.

Instructor: Sasha and Kelly

Sasha: at least I got paired with the one person I like in this place.

Sasha Narrating: After he called my name to pair with Kelly, I really didn’t care to listen to who the other groups were. All I was thinking was which throw are we going to learn first.

Instructor: ALRIGHT, now that you have your partners you can start to learn the first throw.

Instructor: ok if someone throws a punch, you block, grab step and pull, then pull back.

Tony: seems simple enough.

Instructor: Are you serious. Do you want to do even more push-ups?

Tony: no sir

Instructor: Alright. Everybody watch as tony demonstrates this “Simple” throw on his partner.

*Tony executes the throw perfectly.*

Tony: BOOM, IN YOUR…face..

*instructor looks at tony with rage.*

Tony: im going to go ahead and do 20 push ups

Instructor: NO YOU WILL RUN FOR THE REST OF THE DAY…NO BREAKS!

Tony: But sir that’s like another 30 minutes…

*tony sprints off with one look of the instructors angry face.*

*Sasha face-palms and giggles slightly.*

Instructor: Who laughed?

Sasha: That would be me sir.

  Instructor: what’s so funny?

Sasha: Permission to speak freely sir?

Instructor: permission granted

Sasha: How stupid Tony is.

Sasha narrating: After that the instructor liked me slightly more. But for the rest of the week, all we did was learn to block punches how to punch, more throws. And how to use our baton.

End of weeks 4-6

Sasha Narrating: Now that we got the basics we just go over those in more details, nothing too important. Until week 16 when he said for our final two weeks we will be going on ride alongs! This got everybody sooooo excited.

Sasha’s first ride along.

Officer dale: Ooookaayyy, Sasha is it?

Sasha: Yes sir.

Officer dale: since you are going to be going on your first ride along let me go over some ground rules.

Officer dale: DO NOT touch anything, get out of the car unless I tell you to, don’t answer my radio in the car, don’t jump in a fight unless I need help. Got it?

Sasha: Yes sir.

Officer dale: okay.

Sasha narrating: this week we didn’t do anything important. Just some DUI’s and some tickets for busted tail lights. One day we found drugs in this guy’s car but he said it wasn’t his. Yeah right.

Officer dale: week 2 we are going to get more important calls.

Radio: cshhhsh we have a 10-55 off Fourth Avenue.

Officer dale talking on radio: DV 4 en route

Sasha: wait…were going to chase someone!

Officer dale: I guess so.

*Sasha hopes out of the car, following officer dale. The thing is about him, he has quite a belly, so he couldn’t keep up with the suspect. So she sped up and cut him off in a neighborhood. He threw a punch and she blocked, grabbed, stepped, pulled, then pulled back quickly and she didn’t have any handcuffs, so she just put her knee in his back and held him there until officer dale came.*m’onbgv

Officer dale: *breathing heavily* good…job…cadet.
