Color Wheel

The color wheel is used to show basic colors and add different shades to them to make another color. For example, in a color wheel you have the primary color red and add a secondary color like orange to it makes a new amazing color called red-orange. You also use warm colors to make a sense of warmth and heat in your picture. For example, if you were painting the season fall, you would use warm colors (red, orange, and yellow) because the fall is nice and warm. If you were painting something that is cold like winter, you would use cool colors (blue, green, purple) to create a sense of cold weather.

The painting The Water Lily Pond by Claude Pierre Monet uses the colors green, yellow-green, blue, and baby blue to create a sense of spring. When you look at the painting the colors make you sense the feel of spring, warmth, and a nice breeze on a sunny day. The way Monet used the color wheel and the different shades of color helped people to relate to the painting more. When you look at the painting you can imagine yourself there during spring sitting at a pond watching the animals and the water lilies float by. This painting was one of the many paintings that made Monet famous, he used different colors and harmonized tem together to create the feel of all his paintings. The color wheel is essential and important to art because it not only creates new amazing different colors. It also creates the feeling in the painting and helps you feel it to through the colors in the painting.

Picture Day

Jordan woke up Friday morning at the sound of her annoying alarm clock. 7:00 a.m. it said and she was totally excited to go to school today. She got up from her bed and walked up to the calendar, she circled the words picture day. Jordan always liked getting her picture taken even though a lot of people hate picture day, every picture she took was amazing! Jordan walked up to her mirror and screamed! Her hair was a mess a piece was sticking up here, a big clump of hair there, it was awful! Jordan did everything she tried gel, hairspray, headbands, hair ties, everything!

Jordan yelled for her mom while  looking in the mirror. She hated asking her mom for help but this was just crazy. Her mom came into the room. When she saw Jordan’s hair she laughed.  Jordan scolded her mom and then asked for her mom to help her.Her mother twisted and braided and finally got it pulled back in a hair tie. Jordan screamed with delight and thanked her mom. When her mom left Jordan went to her closet to find an outfit to wear.  Jordan found a purple shirt, a blackskirt, and purple flats. She ran to the mirror to look at her creation. She was finally ready to go to school to take her school picture. She ran downstairs, grabbed piece of toast, and jumped in the car with her backpack.

At school in art class, they were painting canvases.  These two boys were arguing over who has the best picture, and in a split second they knocked her arm smearing the paint on her face.  She jumped up and ran to the bathroom and screamed in horror. Red, blue, and purple paint was all over her nose and cheeks. The art teacher ran in and helped her wash the paint off with a wash cloth. Finally after getting all the paint off, it was time for P.E before going off to lunch. Today most of the girls were playing it safe, and walking on the track instead of playing sports. Jordan and her best friend Lacey were walking around the track when out of nowhere a football hit Jordan on the head. Jordan fell on the ground. Lacey reached out her hand and helped her up.

Lacey and Jordan went to the nurse and got a pack of ice on the red bump on her head.  After about 15 minutes it looked and felt a lot better. Now it was time for lunch, Lacey and Jordan sat down to eat their sandwich. A few boys and girls came sat down next to them. After a few minutes one of the girls spilled their drink all over Jordan’s outfit. Jordan ran to the bathroom to wash it off but you could still see the big red stain on her clothes. She went to the nurse to get some new clothes. The only thing there was a pair of jeans and a purple shirt.

Finally, it was time for pictures and Jordan was dreading it. Her clothes, her head, her hair everything had been a disaster. The photographer called Jordan's name, she came and sat down on the stool. The photographer counted to three and took the picture just as Jordan smiled. The next day, when Jordan came to school the teacher handed out the pictures. When she saw her picture she loved it! After all the challenges of a bad day yesterday, she still had a great school picture.

My Tagxedo

To create your tagxedo you have to go to the website and click the create button. You have to insert an image to put in front of the whiteboard. Then you click load, and you can insert any words you want that you feel describes you. After you insert the words, you can change the color of the words and the background. You can also change the writing style of the words and the size. The words outline the image of you so it looks like you are made out of the words that describe you.

I am very talkative and loud and so I basically did most words surrounding that, if you ask me a question then prepare yourself to try and shut me up. I am very social and like doing anything with my friends and around people. People tell me that I am very crazy and super dramatic, which is very true if something bad happens I overdo it and like blow up over it. I put funny as one of my words and that is half true, people laugh when I’m making like funny comments on something. However if I’m making a knock-knock joke or just any joke in general then it is terrible and not funny.

I enjoyed this portrait because we have our qualities and our own words that express ourselves. When people ask us to describe yourself you do but they don’t always see you fitting with that quality. So, in this portrait you not only write the words that you feel describes yourself but it outlines you. It shows that those words are you and make up who you are, and without them you are nothing. I do think that this portrait is more of a true representation of who I am because in a regular picture you see that person but you don’t know who they really are. They might be funny, shy, confident, or loud  but you can’t tell by just looking at a picture of them,  but in this picture you can read and see the words that describe them and who you are.

Graffiti is a form of art that people paint, draw, and scratch illicitly on a wall or other surface on a public place. It is usually a drawing of words in big, eye catching, bubbly letters or unique looking people. It is mostly illegal and if you are caught you could be arrested but that doesn’t stop people from doing it of course. Some people create graffiti to leave a permanent mark on something to make sure that people know that they were here. A lot of them use it for the adrenaline rush and to express their feelings and skills through graffiti art.

First you have to find a graffiti art website, which is basically a website that converts words into graffiti like style.  You enter the words that you want and pick what colors you want and what style you want the words. Then once you are finished just set the white background to transparent color and crop some of the white and background out. So it looks like the word is just plastered on the background which is the brick wall. Once you have them all spaced out and laid out the way you want you are finished.

I chose the words the way I feel I am and the way my best and closest friends describe me. People who don’t know me seem to think that I am shy and quiet. But people who do know me know that I am sociable, talkative, and crazy. I am also very loud and energetic people have to tell me not to yell when I am talking to them and not to laugh so loud but I can’t help it. The last three words I used was confident, fun, and dramatic. Those words basically goes with me being crazy and talkative, because it’s not fun to hang out with someone who doesn’t talk a lot or doesn’t want to do anything fun.

Arcimboldo was an artist in Milan and famous for making faces using food or other objects. No one really knows how he came up with the idea. However many believed that the first food painting was out of humor and the king he was painting and he actually liked it. Others believe it he started painting to create and try something different and that he was just very creative and wanted to try it out. Many also think that he wanted people to have the pleasure of playing a game. To be able to first see a head and then look closer and see different objects. So, I think the reason he decided to do that was to show people something new and be creative with art.

I decided to do candy because it is really fun to use all the sweets and candy and see how they can all blend and work together to make a cool body and face. The reason I chose sweets was because there are so many different shapes that you can use for different body parts.  For example there are long candy like gummy worms that you can use for hair. There are many candies you can use for eyes because a lot of them are circular shaped. There also a lot of stick candy and more that you can use for arms and etc.  I put the candies the way I did because I just looked for the candies that best resembled the body parts that I was looking for, like Reese’s cups for eyes and gummy bears for ears. So basically we can use anything for a food face but my theme was candies and sweets so enjoy!

                                                                   George Washington

                                                                               Early Life

I am George Washington. Everyone knows me as the first president of the United States and “the Father of Our Country.” I was born on February 22, 1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia.  My family is originally from England but my grandfather migrated to Virginia in 1657. My mother Jane died and my father married Mary Ball in 1731 and I am the oldest of my six siblings. After my brother, Lawrence died I joined the US army. In August 1755 I was made commander of all Virginia troops at the age of 23. During 1757, I was sent home because of health problems, but I recovered and came back into duty in 1758.  A month after leaving the army, I married Martha Dandridge Curtis, a widow. The next few years I fought in the Revolutionary War and won independence from Britain.

At the Constitution Convention, I was elected as President of the United States.  I decided on a new constitution that would give the national government a little more authority. I appointed Alexander Hamilton as Secretary of the Treasury and Thomas Jefferson as Secretary of State. I adopted a series of measurements by Hamilton to reduce the nation’s debt. I established many peace treaties with Native American tribes and established the nation’s capital in a permanent district along the Potomac River. In 1791, I signed a bill authorizing Congress to place a tax on distilled spirits. I also invoked the Militia Act of 1792 to end the rebellion. After a few more years I served as a second term.

                                                                                   Retirement

Even though many pressured me to serve a third term, I missed Mount Vernon and farming.  However before my term as president ended, I wanted to give the country one last measure of myself. With the help of Hamilton I composed a Farewell Address to the people, which urged them to cherish the Union and avoid partisanship and permanent foreign alliances. In March 1797, I turned over the government to John Adams and returned to Mount Vernon. My last official act was to pardon the participants in the Whiskey Rebellion.

                                                                                     Death

In 1799, Washington spent much of it inspecting the farm on horseback in a driving snowstorm. The next morning, on December 13, he awoke with a sore throat and became increasingly hoarse. The illness progressed until he died late in the evening of December 14, 1799. The news of his death spread throughout the country, plunging the nation into a deep mourning. Many towns and cities held mock funerals and presented hundreds of eulogies to honor him.

I had a lot of fun creating my zentangle. It was hard and challenging, but I just used patterns that I thought was beautiful and went well with the other patterns. It showed me what it is really like to be an artist and to do that every day. It was very inspiring and I learned how to be precise and be steady with my hands in order to do the zentangle properly.

I chose to do some patterns that I thought were just really cool and fun. I also had to think of which patterns looked well together, because if you just do some random patterns that don’t look good together it will be a big mess. I like this project because I usually doodle some patterns on my paper when I’m bored, so doing this for real was cool.

Creating my patterns I just wanted it to seem like it was flowing effortlessly throughout the paper. That’s why I had some of my loops go further onto the paper to make it seem wild and fun. At the end I was satisfied with my work and I was thinking that all the hand cramps and sharpie stains on my hands were worth it. I wanted to give it a cool glow in the dark kind of theme and neon, so that the colors would really stand out in the back, emphasizing the black patterns. This whole process was amazing and I would love to do it again in my free time.

I think that there should be a balance between school spirit and actual academic work. I have two reasons why and I think we should all consider them, because they are both important to people.

My first reason is that we need  a break form academic work. We actually  need to show some support for our school and sports for fun! I mean by showing school spirit we can raise money for our school. That benefits both the school and the students. By getting new textbooks and more things to help us academically, you might do better in school and might find it more fun.

My second reason for needing both, because of course we need to do work and learn in school. But my pint is if we have too much school spirit activities it takes time away form school work. If we focus too much on school work we wont benefit the sports and the school's possible improvements. So basically we need a balnce of both.

In the sea everyone naturally feared the sharks, with their big teeth, and fast swimming, and huge body. However Matty, a fish, never understood why everyone couldn’t just get along. His family didn't like sharks, because the way they looked and what they ate.  Matty had 4 best friends, Candy, Bate, Sandy, and Poke (a turtle). They liked to go on all kinds of fun adventures. They were told to not go were the sharks were which was Sharp Teeth Cove.

One day, Matty told his friends that they should explore for mermaids or seahorses. They all agreed they thought hat it would be fun to go and look for new friends. They found a mermaid named Ariel and a seahorse named Scuttle, they had a lot of fun. After they returned home, everyone was frantically looking for them worried tat they had gotten eaten. It turns out that a shark had been thrashing about in the homes of the fish  and everyone fled.  Matty told them that they hadn't gotten eaten and that they were completely fine.

Their parents had a meeting discussing their children's wild adventures. They thought that them being by themselves int he ocean full of predators wasn't safe. They told Matty and the others that they could only wander around their homes and no farther than that. Matty's father told them that if they did they might get eaten by a shark or another predator. So Matty and his friends didn't go on any adventures after that making them scared of sharks and extremely bored.

One day they were playing around the coral reef when all of a sudden all the fish started frantically swimming away.A shark was thrashing around wildly destroying the fish's homes. They turned around to swim but everyone had left and so had their parents.  Matty realized that the shark was crying. He swam up To the shark followed by his friends. Bate asked the shark why he was crying, the shark said that he just wanted some friends. The shark, Spike, told them that all his friends had left him because he didn’t like meat. Matty and all his friends told him that he could hang out with them, but he said that he better not.

Matty's parents came up to them worried and asking them if they were okay. They told them that they were fine, but the shark didn't want to eat them that he just wanted some friends. They were mad that their children had talked to a shark and didn't think of what could've happened to them, but when they talked more about their idea they realized they were wrong. The next day Sandy, Candy, Matty,Bate, and Poke all came up to Spike carrying balloons and banners and told him to follow them.  When they arrived at their destination all the fish and sea creatures had set up a party just for him. They told Spike that they had misjudged him and wanted to be friends with him, Spike had so much fun and they all became friends. Everyone learned that you can't judge someone before you  get to know them, even though they don't come up to every shark they are glad they met Spike.

Racism is a big injustice in the world that goes against love and equality. It has been around for more than 100 years, and even after Martin Luther King Jr. it hasn’t completely gone away. Racism is not black vs. white anymore. Racism includes all people of all different races, including white, black, Asian, Mexican, Arabian and etc. There are three important ways that people can take a further step into stopping racism.

Everyone no matter what should be equal in certain aspects in life. For example, equal pay at work. Some races don’t get certain jobs, or if they do get paid less. For actors, some races don’t get many roles, nomination, or awards as much as others. Instead of separating opportunity from certain races, everyone should be equal.

Another way is to not judge people on what others of that race has done. For example, African American men sometimes are viewed as thugs or ghetto, because some others are. Another example is people who are Muslim or from Iraq are viewed as terrorist, just because many others were. Some Mexicans are viewed as poor or dirty which is not the case. People should get to know them and their character before judging them by their race.

The third way is to love each other instead of bullying and hating others. People shouldn’t be bullied because of who they were born as. Instead of hating, everyone should be celebrating what makes everyone different. Everyone could learn a lot from other races and their traditions. Everyone is human, the only big difference is the color of our skin. Why is that a reason to hate? Instead of hating, people would benefit from loving each other.

These three was to stop racism would make everyone happier and the world a better place. Martin Luther King Jr. started everyone on the path to start all kinds of racism. Now it is everyone’s duty now to finish the path. Racism is a huge injustice in the world, but with love and equality everyone can be a part in stopping it.

The Keep Calm Posters have become wildly popular throughout the internet. You can do whatever you want with it. You can redecorate it and change the text. You can also put it up in your room or even wear it on a t-shirt. Some enjoy for different reasons that makes it so appealing to them. There are many reasons but let’s go over how the posters got so popular and why.

The Keep Calm poster is a motivational poster produced by the British government in 1939 in preparation for the Second World War. The poster was supposed to raise the confidence of the British public, threatened with widely predicted mass air attacks on major cities. Almost 2,500,000 copies of Keep Calm and Carry On posters were printed between 23 August 1939 and 3 September 1939 but the poster was not approved for instant public display. It was instead decided that copies of the poster should remain in "cold storage" for use after serious air raids. So they were never seen by the public and was cancelled.

In 2000, Stuart Manley, co-owner with his wife Mary of Barter Books Ltd. in Alnwick, Northumberland, was going through a box of used books bought at an auction. While he was going through it he found one of the original "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters. The couple framed it and hung it up by the cash register. It attracted so much interest that Manley began to produce and sell copies. Other companies followed and the design rapidly began to be used as the theme for a wide variety of products. It didn’t become widely popular on the internet and on other products until around 2011 and 2012.

The reason that it became so popular is because it was new and different than anything they had ever seen and had. You could also put in different phrases and sayings to make it funnier. You can wear them on t-shirts and put them up on your bedroom walls and etc. You can personalize it and make it relatable to you and your friends, which made it fun and humorous to wear and see. After something that went viral on the internet isn’t popular anymore, people want to find something new to go crazy about. That just happened to be the Keep Calm posters.

The Keep Calm posters are very popular, and people have different reasons to like them so much. One of the reasons is because it is fun to add different words in. Another is just because it is new and exciting. It has never been on the internet before. Do you agree with my reason or do you have another one?

Isa: You thought of all that during the movie?!

Mason: That sounds awesome, but do we all have enough money to get it?

Melody: That sounds mega awesome, how much is it?

Kandice: It’s about 25,000 dollars.

(Melody, Mason, and Isa’s eyes widen)

Isana: Oh I have about 300,000 dollars  that I can put in.

(Kandice, Isa, Newell, Melody, and Mason look at her with shocked faces.)

Isana: My parents can pitch in too and help buy instruments and decoration and stuff like that for the store.

Kandice: So we all want to do this?

Isana: *takes a deep breath, smiles, and goes on stage* Hello everyone this is The Tune and we have a little show for you!
