How to create a Voki!

Step 1: Locating the website: For starters, Vokis are extremely awesome and add a personal touch to your website! First you need to go on google chrome and type in the URL bar www.voki.com (if Google Chrome is your default browser, you can just click on the link above)

Step 2: Registering: You need to make an account in order to make your Voki, so click on register in the right hand corner. (The register button is right next to the login button, in case you are having trouble finding it.) You need to put in your email address, but don’t worry! The voki terms of use specifically state that your email will not be published. Once you’ve finished going through the process of registering, you need to log on to your email and activate your account.

Step 3: Creating your Voki: DO NOT click on the voki classroom button! You need to click on the create button which is located next to the voki classroom button. Then you can begin creating your voki. There are many different things you can do to personalize your voki, like changing clothes or choosing what person you want to be. There are animals, historic characters, fantasy characters, oddballs, etc. Personally I went with one of the oddballs because that is what I am. I am an oddball! To make them talk, you need to click on the add text button and begin typing what you want it to say. You can choose the accent and listen to it! I hope this step by step guide helped you and I hope you had as much fun as I did creating my Voki!

Color Wheel

The color wheel can help you choose a color if you are having trouble with that sort of thing. There are many different colors but the color wheel only holds a certain amount and you can build off of those colors to get a new color.

Vincent Van Gough used the color wheel to create his paintings. He especially used the cool side of the color wheel during the period where he only used blue.

     "YYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSS?"

When i was a child my mother and I moved into a big two story house with empty rooms and creaky floorboards. My mum often worked late into the evening so I was alone when I got home from school. When I walked into the house after school one day and I heard footsteps coming from upstairs. I thought to myself, "It must be mum. She must have gotten home from work early.

"Mum!" I yelled up the stairs. I heard a sing-songey  voice say, "Yeeeeeeessssss?".  It sounded like  it was coming from one of the empty rooms. I knew mum was planning on making one of the rooms a guest room so I figured she was in one of those rooms. I ran upstairs and looked in all of the empty rooms, but she wasn't in any of them.

I heard the door open in close downstairs and heard my actual mum's voice saying, "Rosie dear, where are you?". I replied, "I'm upstairs mum!". She was upstairs in 20 seconds. She could here the fright in my voice. "Listen Mum." Then I yelled the same thing I had before and I heard the same reply.

Then after I heard "Yeeeeeeeessss?" my mum was gone. I was scared. I didn't know who was there or who was making those footsteps or replying to my calls. I cautiously walked upstairs and looked in all of the rooms until I found the one mum was in. I breathed a sigh of relief. And then the trouble started.

The lights started flickering as I walked up to my mum's bed. Then the lights stopped flickering and I was left in total darkness. I reached my mum's bed and realized her eyes were open but she wasn't blinking. She was quite pale too.  The lights turned on but not on full power. I saw ,written in blood and dripping down the wall, the words "You're next" I ran out of the house and called the police. When they got to the house I told them what happened and they said they would check it out. From now on the image of my mother and the blood stained wall  will forever be etched in my mind.

This is my Tagxedo. It consists of 20 words that describe me. Earlier we wrote down 20 words that described us and then we put it in Tagxedo along with a picture of us.

Some of the words I chose were short, creative, weird, and bold. I chose short because, well, let’s face it. I’m only five feet tall. I chose creative because you can give me any craft material and I’m pretty sure I can make whatever I want to out of it. I chose weird because I’m not your average middle schooler. I chose bold because I will always give you my honest opinion whether you like it or not.

I think thispicture is used as an expressive picture because it tells other people more about who you are as a person. It is more expressive than a normal portrait because with a portrait, it only captures what is on the outside. Not what is on the inside.

Sometimes when people use graffiti it is not always a bad thing. They use it to express themselves in an artsy way. They use it to make the walls and streets colorful. I think that graffiti is a good way to show people who you are. I also think that you shouldn’t go around painting all of the streets and buildings because it is an illegal act.

How I did my graffiti wall is I went to http://postergen.com/graffiti-creator.  I typed in my name and played around with the colors and the fonts until I found what I liked. I changed the background to white and saved it to my computer. I did this for the rest of my words. Then I went on photo gallery and cropped them. Then I got a brick background and put it on power point along with my name and the words that describe me.

Here are the words I chose and how they describe me:

Pasta: I don’t like pasta. I LOVE pasta! I think it’s the best food EVER!!!

Duct Tape: I like to do things with duct tape because it gets my creative juices flowing.

Nerd: People call me a nerd because I wear glasses, I read books, I’m smart, and I watch shows that people don’t really like.

Books: I love to read! There is actually a room in my house that I think has more than 100 books in it.

Band: I am in band and often referred to as a band geek

Whovian: In case you don’t know what a whovian is it is a person who is a dedicated fan of the sci-fy show Doctor Who

Arcimboldo was a famous artist who lived and died in the 1500s. I think his thought process as he made the paintings was he wanted to make something different and unique.

I chose the things I did because I thought that is what I thought would look most like a face. I placed them the way I did because that is what I thought looked best

T-Shirt Design

I think we should take time out of instruction to work on school spirit because a lot of kids don’t like school and they think that it takes time out of fun. If they actually did some fun things at school, then they wouldn’t think so poorly of it.

Building school spirit would encourage more kids to buy bracelets and raise money for the SGA. It will also encourage more teachers to do the same. When we have pep rallies the students sit there on the bleachers and don’t participate.

When we go to pep rallies students should be proud of their school and their team. They shouldn’t be disappointed with their school. That is why I think we should take time out of instruction to build school spirit.

Zentangle

Creating a zentangle was a very amazing process to me. It helped relax me and express the mood(s) I was in and what I was feeling while making it. However, it did take many steps and a large amount of time. The process included marbling the paper for my final, choosing patterns I liked and practicing each one on a practice sheet, and then putting them on my final. There is so much detail in each design, no matter which one it is, it takes a good bit of time for each so the whole thing takes a while, but it is an easy to enjoy activity.

There were many steps I had to take in order to make my zentangle. The first thing I had to do was marble my final paper. That was done by putting shaving cream in a bucket, adding paint onto the shaving cream and making designs in it by moving a popsicle stick around in it, putting my final paper on it for a few seconds, rinsing the excess shaving cream off of the paper with water, and then letting it dry. Once my final paper was dry, I had to start the process of the actual zentangle drawing. I had to pick out both zentangle patterns and zentangle strings for the zentangle project. The zentangle strings are what separate the zentangles from each other, while still being zentangles in themselves. I picked these patterns and strings as I went, and I tried to pick ones that would make a balance between business and calmness as well as a balance between dark and light. The hardest part of making my zentangles was honestly how long it took to draw out everything. I had to find the patterns, practice them, and then put them on my final paper. Each zentangle had so much detail that all together, it took a while to make the whole zentangled paper. After I finished all the zentangling, I took a picture of it, downloaded the picture on my computer, and did a little bit of computer editing to it. I didn’t do anything major to it though. I didn’t want it to be overly busy. I didn’t even care to edit out the mistakes in it because making mistakes is okay, and they were bound to happen. All I did was brighten it up a bit and make it more vibrant. I, personally, am very satisfied with how my zentangle turned out and its benefits.

Zentangling, for me, was amazing, and had many benefits. When I was drawing my zentangle, I felt much more focused and very relaxed. It helped me be more relaxed, both during and outside of school. I didn’t stress as often over my schoolwork during the week or two it took me to make my zentangle. Making my zentangle was a very enjoyable process, and I will most likely start zentangling a bit in my free time.
