Sam W.'s Happy place

(Om nom nom)

Voki's are very useful in websites, they bring a personal touch to websites as a person is talking to them.

Well, this is how I made my Voki, and how you can make one, too. First of all, I decided to make it look like myself, then I looked at the options. After that, I decided on a basic figure. I then changed the basic figure to look like me. I made the hair orange, made the figure slightly taller, larger, stronger, oh… wait a second, that’s Robocop. Just forget the last part. After I did all that, something was missing, ah! The glasses! Then, added the voice, and, if you listen, you can hear a joke I put at the end.

So, now you can make your own Voki! Happy making!

The coloring wheel can be a useful tool in not only websites, but general art as well. See the following reasons why;

The coloring wheel can be used to see what complimentary colors you should put next to each other. You can also use it to tell what colors to put next to each other for emphasis. For instance, if you want something to look nice, put green next to red, but in you want emphasis, put ORANGE next to red. You also can see analogous colors that can improve the look of an artwork or even an entire website (*cough cough* the graphics website *cough cough*).

Not only that, but you can express FEELINGS with color. For instance, Pablo Picasso used only the cold colors (and one warm color) with his paintings during his “Cold period”, where during which he was alone and sad. Or, during Picasso’s Rose Period where everything was warm and happy. (This is probably when he got his 5th girlfriend.)

As you can see, the coloring wheel is a very useful tool, and personally, I've used it quite a lot. Many artists have used it, and you should too. :D

The following is a short story by me, read by me, and made awesome by me.

It was a normal day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the juice he was drinking was delicious. However, Sam didn't feel that well... He looked into his drink, and the juice had a slight green tinge to it, and it was supposed to be grape juice! He raced to the bathroom, leaving his friend Suzie alone. (In hindsight, that wasn't a good idea...) Sam didn't think this would turn out well...

When he got to the bathroom, he gazed into the mirror. As he did, he only found a normal reflection of him staring right back at him. And then the reflection's mouth dropped to his chin, he became twice as wide, and he had three eyes. The entire reflection was out of proportion and was divided into chromatic grid-like squares. He then realized this was serious. (Bout time right?) He then raced back to Suzie at the lunch table, he told her what was happening, but of course, she didn't believe him...

For the entirety of lunch, Suzie didn't say anything. Sam tried to talk to her, but she dismissed him and just sat there silently. He tried to explain why he rushed away in the middle of a story about her sister. (Told you that wasn't a good idea.) This was hopeless, she wouldn't listen to him, so there is no reason to talk.

The day was horrible. He restlessly went through his periods in school and finally got to art. They were instructed to take pictures of each other for some hockey thing. He told his friends that it wouldn't work, and they still didn't believe him. They took the picture and got the picture above. The camera can no longer be used....

Sam look up from his computer and said, "Mrs. Wilson, I'm done with my David Hockney story." Mrs. Wilson looked at it, so Mrs. Wilson, what does she say? Viewers and readers of this website? How do you think the story ended? I just want a twist ending, and I personally think you should decide whether this story has a happy or sad ending.

So, did you like my story? No? Okay... I'll just let myself out.

So, this is a Tagxedo, oh look, there it is in the corner. It looks like my face in my infamous pose. It was made using Tagxedo.com, were you select a premade picture, or a picture on your computer, and then you just save it as a JPEG. Done :D

Now, I know I was supposed to do all positive words, but I put stubbord, I mean stubborn, Dummkopf and redundant. Mainly because, that's me. Thoughtful is one of the words I put there, that's because I like helping others and I try to make them feel good. Dummkopf is the German word for "fool", and I do often fool around, make jokes, yadda yadda yadda... I am very stubborn, I could make a saint to sin is what my parents say. I am also intellegnet, and yes, that is what I put there orginally. It's kinda ironic eh?

This entire thing is me, how I look and act. That's why it is mine, and no-one else's. It shows more of me than in a normal photo, as this describes me, and literally outlines me.

Graffiti is art put into weird forms and colors. Many forms of graffiti are usually ‘poorly drawn’ (as many people say) pictures or names, as seen above. One graffiti artist uses graffiti to tell people about certain things, like if a person died, a certain symbol would be put above a picture of them. Graffiti can also be used to express feelings. Finally, graffiti can be used to mark turf, I think….

In order to make digital graffiti, take a picture of a blank brick wall, you’ll need this later. Then go to an online graffiti generator, then make LOTS of graffiti. Make sure that the background is pure white. Then, go to a powerpoint and make the brick wall the background. Put the graffiti words on the brick and change the white to transparent. Save the powerpoint as a PNG and put it on a website.

I simply choose the words because I thought they represented me and how I act. Pure means I am kind. Bold means I be myself and stand up for myself. Unique means I’m me. Ima Smmart… My name is Sam.

Arcimboldo, the person we are impersonating, drew complicated paintings that showed a face made of objects or multiple object of a theme. He likely drew this way to show a connection between people and nature. Another likely reason that Arcimboldo drew this way is because he wanted to show how a person acted. He wanted to show how a person 'represented'.

I just used item I thought looked similar to body parts. The end of the coconut looks like nostrils. The two strawberries look like lips. The bowls are pants. The cherries look like scrunchies. Also, the hhhhhwheat looks like hair.

(watch out for that cat...)

For a project, our teacher assigned us to do 4 social media templates for a president we were assigned, I got 14, Franklin Pierce.

A interesting fact about Franklin Pierce is that he was an alcoholic! During his presidential campaign, many, many troubles went through his life and he found comfort in alcohol. The band "The Whigs", referenced him in one of their songs, saying "he won a well fought bottle."

One very sad thing about ol' Franklin is that he had... family troubles. AS SOON AS HE BECAME PRESIDENT, HIS SON DIED! Then, one after another, his sons fell dead, and he had to cut short his second presidential campaign to comfort his mourning wife.

One... interesting thing about Franklin, is that he promoted slavery! He was one of the only Presidents that wanted slavery. The funny thing is, politicians wanted a president that was pro-slavery because it would win favor with the southern states. It did.

So, I need to persuade you about whether teachers should take time out of class to do school spirit, yes or no. But truthfully, it should be left to the teacher/aid(s) to do so. One reason being is if one class has a massive test coming up, and they REALLY need to study in class, I don't think the teacher would want their lesson interrupted. That would cause the students to get distracted and likely forget some things.

Another reason it would be a bad idea to enforce school spirit, is that it might get annoying to the students. Not all students want to be "school spirited" and might find it overly boring to do so. Leaving it to the teacher can allow the teacher do take a vote on what the students want to do.

Finally, leaving it to the teacher allows it to happen on their on grounds. Meaning, if the week was boring 'all ready done it' or 'filler' work, they can do school spirit stuff. It allows the teacher to schedule when something 'spirity' happens, instead of finding out that they have to do it, about 1 day before.

This is my Zentangle, or rather SPOOKTANGLE! No..? No..? Okay...

The way I began it is very simple. I got onto a website and found a 'tangle' that I liked, then drew it. I started out with a 'band' or one of those long strips going across the paper. I wanted it to be very natural and elemental. I failed. Instead it's very chaotic and detailed. I was trying to find darker 'tangles' to fill this, with various geometric and natural fillers. My mood was not very in tune with this, even though it was supposed to be form of meditation.

I suppose the feeling I am trying to convey is a sense of controlled chaos. Everything is very wild, very different, but they have boundries. They seem as if they would continue forever, whoop! A wall.

Deep in the great state of Nevada lives a military base, area 51. Then, there is its neighbor, area 9. You see, area 51 has... problems with area 9, as area 9 likes to experiment with animals and robots. Which brings across the reason why area 51 was created, to destroy the robots that area 9 let loose.

One day, all was quiet in area 51 and area 9. Sergeant Wobin Realliams was pacing back and forth, wondering when exactly area 9 was going to unfortunately strike again. He checked the scanner for any life-form outside their base, but only saw the usual aliens and spaceships. He asked his assistant to check Area 9's activity. The assistant replied saying there was no activity, which made Sergeant Wobin unnerved, there has got to be something going on..

Sergeant Wobin decided to go to Area 9 to see if there was anything going on he didn't know about. When he got there, he was greeted by Colonel Tronald Dumps, sweaty and nervous. This was usual whenever Sergeant Wobin visited. Wobin questioned Tronald, "So, Mr. Dumps, what has your team been up to that we need to destroy?" "Oh, nothing sir, definitely not a Winged Whale Walker that moos," Tronald replied. Just as he said that, a mechanic ran out yelling that experiment #147 had gotten loose.

The mechanic ran after the gigantic Winged Blue Whale Walker (that moos). When he had given up, he said simply, "Dang it! Experiment 147 got loose again!" Meanwhile, back at Area 9, Wobin said, "This is the final time an experiment gets loose!" He pulled out his cell and called back to area 51 to order an airstrike, as well to call Starbucks for a coffee. The airstrike went through and the W.B.W.W.(T.M.) was destroyed, leaving its creators sad and distraught.

Sergeant Wobin looked at the Colonel and his scientists, realizing for the first time that maybe he should give them a second chance. He forgave the Colonel for making the stupid contraptions, and asked if they could make a miniature one of those W.B.W.W.(T.M.) for his daughter. Colonel Dumps and his men got to work right away, making it within a matter of days. They had it transported to the excited little Realliams and her parents, who were filled with ecstasy. However, it did attack the town, so much for keeping Area 51 a secret!

Human Trafficking. Makes one cringe, no? You see, human trafficking is a world-wide social injustice. Plainly, it is a violation of natural rights given to humans. It needs to be solved now.

First of all, humans have a right to property. They themselves are not property. Humans should not be sold, nor should they be bought. They should not be treated like baggage. They are souls, not currency.

No one person should be a slave, no one deserves it. Criminals should be in jail. Men and women need to be at their work or school. No one living soul of a human should be living in a basement as a slave for transport.

The thing is, human trafficking may not be totally stoppable. However, it can be majorly prevented. Increasing police forces and security on borders should prevent it from escaping a country. More checking of vehicles could help prevent these poor people from being treated like trash.

As said before, human trafficking is a violation of natural human rights. This can be easily prevented with a few precautions. But just think…. What else can we do? How do we help? That… is for the world to decide.

Keep calm and keep reading this. Yeah, this may be a pretty old meme, but it’s still catchy right? Actually, that catchy-ness and its compatibility with parodies might just be why this phrase became so popular… An essay really needs to be written on this… oh wait….

First of all, some info on the Keep Calm poster. The poster itself was a set of three propaganda posters. This one in particular was made to boost morale during the Nazi German invasion. However, that never actually happened, so the posters were thought to be destroyed. That is, until one older couple found one and hung it in their shop.

Nowadays, not many things can hold the attention of people very long. That’s why quotes are shorter and longer things are ignored or forgotten. The shortness, simplicity, and pure catchiness of the phrase makes it easy to roll around in a person’s head make an imprint. In 2013, human’s needed something to catch on, and this did, it caught on and carried on.

That was actually a parody, “Caught on and carried on” is a parody. So are “Keep calm because nobody’s perfec” and “Keep calm and shut up”. Parodies are what keep phrases like this going on for years. Because of this very smooth compatibility with parodies and customization, this phrase survived years of remembrance.

Likely the reason these posters became so popular was because of the way they were made. With the simplicity of it, it just goes over the average attention span of a… hey! A shoe!

Ahem, and with the potential for parodies, it’s customizable! Makes you wonder what will be so popular next… Maybe a presidential thing, like Donald Trump… wait….

Welcome to…

Vortex

Adventurers beware! A mystic portal has opened! Make your way around the five worlds and collect magical relics to vanquish the evil! You might have to barter and steal to get them though, just make sure YOU are the one gets the glory of slaying the…. Uh… mystical… I don’t know, I haven’t been there. Just GO!

How to start game: Select who goes first however you want, human. You can roll dice, play rock paper scissors. However you do it, just select the first player. Then, each person selects a “situation card”. This will change the way you play the game. Whatever it says on the card will apply for the entire game. Then select a biome and the adventurer that goes with that biome.

How to play: Once you’ve all done that, the first player will roll the dice and move the amount shown. Once turn is over, pass the dice to the person on your left (clockwise) and continue the pattern.

Tiles: There are a total of 50 tiles around the perimeter of the board. With 25 total tiles in the center vortex. Each tiles has a different effect. There are happenstance spots, trap spots, biome spots, relic spots, and boring spots. Boring spots do absolutely nothing. Trap spots send you back to the spot where you began your roll (They are only in the center of the board.) Happenstance spots make you pick up a card and do what the card tells you, this can be good… or very bad. Biome spots act similarly to happenstance spots, but they are themed after the area they are located in. (Also, these are usually more positive.) Relic spots are where you start your adventurer and where you gain a relic themed on that biome. (That means you start out with a relic, don’t lose it!)

Board: Here is a key for the board:

Yellow: This is the relic spots and the starting spots.

Purple:This is a happenstance card spot.

White: This is a trap spot, (See TILES for more info)

Multicolored: This ranges from green to sandy to blue, this is a biome spot.

How to win: In order to win, you must get past all the trap spots in the middle vortex. Once you get to the center, you win! There is one problem though, you need the magic from the relics to get to the center. You need to collect one of each relic to be able to get in the center. That means you need the Relic of Towns, the Relic of Sands, the Relic of Seas, the Relic of Plains, and the Relic of Trees… Hey that rhymed!

Charles “Char” Ambrose – 19 years old, an extremely overprotective introvert who lives in an unknown country. He is still in school but has been feeling lonely for too long. He usually keeps to himself and can give off an uncaring or mean composure, due to this, he has little friends and thus can cause him to be depressed. However, the friends he has are some of the best. Once you get to know him, he is loyal compassionate, intelligent, and persistent. However, he is overly shy, he can be hotheaded, overly persistent, and can sometimes be uncaring on his outward effect to others, when he doesn’t mean to. He stands at about 5ft 8” tall. He meets a new friend at the beginning of a new year (this was two years ago), and he never feels lonely around her… what could this mean?
Alex Malachi – 19 years old as well. A preppy and mostly happy female. Easily makes friends and is pretty much an exact opposite of Char’s negatives. However, she has to help everyone she can, and can easily get sad from others. She has just started college along with Char and saw a boy without any friends except for his little group that he plays with online during his free time. She wants to be his friend and help him stick himself out more in his life. She likes being around him… but why?
Narrator Jones – That flying invisible guy in the sky that you never see, hear, or talk to except in stories.

At Chrona Tech Institute, about noon on Tuesday. Char is walking into school when his friend Alex talks to him)
Notes for Jones actor: This is a joke character… have fun with him!
Jones: Our story begins as Char is approached by his crush and best friend.
Alex: (Happily) Char! Hey! How are you?
Char: (Tired) Oh, hey. Didn’t seeya there. I’m well, you?
Alex: I’m having a great morning, although it was hard to get up.
(Alex shrugs)
Alex: Guess that’s what I get for staying up too long.
Char: (Sarcastically) Yeah, you know me. Always in bed on time.
m(Alex and Char chuckle)
Jones: That really wasn’t a funny joke… why are they laughing? Oh wait…
Char: (nervously) Hey… I wanted to ask you… a… uhm.
Alex: Yeah?
Char: (Quietly) urh… never mind…
Alex: (confused) Okay then… (normal tone) Hey! I just remembered! I’m going to do something with a couple of friends, wanna come?
Char: Uh, sure, where you going?
Alex: We’re going to the party tonight.
Char: (Somewhat angrily) No… no… no. I already told you! I’m not going! I’m just going to be a stinking wall flower anyways…
Alex: (Disappointedly) Sorry, I was gonna go and thought you might have wanted to come.
Char: Sorry…
Jones: Char and Alex walk off into the distance with Char wishing he had said something and Alex wishing Char had joined her. They meet again the next day. Char is waiting for Alex.
Alex: (confused) Oh… hey Char… who you waiting for?
Char: (confidant, yet reluctant) Yeah… you…
Jones: This was about a third through the school year, Char had met this girl two years ago.
Alex: (nervous) Me? … Why?
Char: I was…. Wondering if you wanted to… maybe grab a bite after school?
Alex: Sure, it’s a date.
Char I …I didn’t mean it like-
Alex: Yes you did.
Jones: That was the end of this story. So go away, class is starting, Char and Alex are going to be late.
