Voki

Karen Shirley

A voki is an animated, computer generated character. You can make them whoever or however you would like with the website. Simply click the “create” button and let your imagination flow. You can choose the hair, eyes, shape, height, and color of the features of your voki. You can also choose how they talk and what they say, which is a great plus. After you’re done with your voki you can choose a background, name it, and publish it wherever you please.

First you must sign up for voki. Make sure to make a username and password you definitely won’t forget. Go to your email and accept the voki email in order to log in and create your voki. Once you’re done with that you can click the create button and start creating your voki.

You can choose the hair style, hair color, eye color, face shape, eye shape, no hair, skin color, and more. You can choose the voice pitch, accent, or what they say with the voice editor. You can also choose the background and eventually, once you’re done, you can choose the name.

Color Wheel

Karen Shirley

The color wheel has several different uses. You can use them to see the shading colors for other ones, blend them together, or make other colors. The color wheel is mostly for blending. If you save the color blue, and there’s a shadow that goes with the blue or blue object, you can use the color wheel to find a slightly darker blue for the shadow, or just shading in general.

Vincent Van Gough used the color wheel quite a lot. He used a bunch of same colors for shading and detail, which needs the color wheel to find what colors are perfect. His “blue man” painting he used several different shades of blue, in which he needed the color wheel for. It’s very important to every artist to be able to tell dark orange from red orange and it helps.

Cheerleaders

Karen Shirley

“Give me an ‘m’, give me an ‘o’, give me a ‘u’ give me a- HALEY YOU’RE OFF POINT!” I shout angrily. The scrawny, brown haired girl turns her head to me in a scowl.

“I was doing great until bird breath over here missed her mark,” she says motioning her thumb towards another girl by the name of Haley. Haley Wilson was a lot of things, and bird breath was definitely one of them. I look at Haley Wilson and cross my arms.

“I fixed it before she slipped,” bird breath protests. I hear a scoff from the other Haley and I start tapping my foot.

“It doesn’t matter now, it’s already ruined. We’re going to try this until we get it right,” I say, sticking my chin up. The other girls groan and glare at the two Haley’s angrily. Haley Wilson crosses her arms and turns away while the other Haley crosses her arms and turns the opposite way. If you didn’t know them you’d think they were sisters really. Both with flat brown hair, green eyes, and a pretty good body type. More like twins then enemies but if you knew them you’d know they were in no way related.

“Alright girls, let’s try this again,” I say grabbing the pom poms and throwing them into the air with a big smile. The other girls follow, all except for the two Haley’s.

“Girls,” I growl slightly. They turn to me almost in unison. I stare at them for a moment, for a split second it seemed like they were the same person. Same facial features and everything. Then the look was gone and they were back to the plump and scrawny Haley’s. I shake my head, it was a stupid feeling. I was certain the other girls saw it too, because they were staring at the two like they were aliens.

“What?” they ask at the same time. Then they cover their mouths and turn to each other. Haley Wilson puts her hand down and the other Haley does too. No, I was crazy. They weren’t siblings or even remotely related…were they? I drop the pom poms. They were somehow linked. Somehow.

“What’s happening?” they ask together once again. “Stop copying me! No you stop! STOP!” they practically yell. I run up in front of them before something starts.

“Girls, girls, please,” I say putting my hands in front of each of them. Haley Wilson grabs my arm, she was shaking, obviously scared.

“What’s going on?” she manages to whimper. The other Haley doesn’t copy her this time. Suddenly, a big ring echoes through the gym. Everyone backs away towards the bleachers as a giant ship starts to appear. Once it’s fully visible an alien walks out. At least, we thought he was an alien. He looked human enough.

“Sorry for that. Bit of a mix up,” he states smiling at us. We all stare with our mouths open in surprise. He looks back at his ship.

“Well, gotta take off,” he says giving us a little salute and hopping back into his ship. As he takes off, we almost faint. One girl does faint. After the event, we sat on the benches, our hands in our laps. No one speaks. Our parents come to get us and none of us say a word about the practice. The only thing to remind us; both one Haley is gone.
